Commonly Used Advanced Settings

Most Advanced Course Settings don’t require any changes. Some, however, are used frequently enough to warrant a description in this document. Advanced settings must be set for each course.

  1. Log into Studio.

  2. Click on a course.

  3. Select Settings > Advanced Settings.

    1. Course Display Name – You can change the name of the course here.

    2. Invitation Only – Set this value to ‘true’ if you only want to allow admins to invite users to a course. The course will be unavailable from the course catalog.

    3. Show Answer – Here you can set a value for when to give students answers for problems. This is the default value, but can be overridden on a problem-specific basis.

      1. Always – A student can always click ‘Show Answer’ and see the correct answer and the explanation.
      2. Answered - Show the answer after the student has submitted her final answer.
      3. Attempted – Show the answer after the student has tried to answer the problem one time, whether or not the student answered the problem correctly.
      4. Closed - Show the answer after the student has used up all his attempts to answer the problem or the due date has passed.
      5. Finished - Show the answer after the student has answered the problem correctly, the student has no attempts left, or the problem due date has passed. [default]
      6. Correct or Past Due – Show the answer if a student has answered correctly (so they see the explanation in addition to their correct answer) or when the due date has passed. If no due date has been set, then the answer will never be available.
      7. Past Due – Show the answer when the due date has passed. If no due date has not been set, then the answer will never be available.
      8. Never – Never show the answer
